A lot of poems scattered throughout "Asian Diaries" have been arranged as songs by Victor Tsaran. Please, viit his web site if you want to know more about how they have been put together with the beautiful sounds of his acoustic guitar!
"Asian Diaries" belongs to a genre of creative nonfiction: it starts out as a memoir of impressions, crosses to a memoir of customs, and finally settles on a more journalist-like approach as it quotes several interviews. It is a tribute to some of the Asian cultures which presented themselves to us [my husband and myself] during our travels and teaching experience in Asia. The encounter with these cultures was brief, but fruitful in long-lasting memories and a number of inspirations, ranging from poetry and music to education and research projects.
The remaining introductory information to the book is presented in the "Introduction." So, plunge in and enjoy the reading!
