Food Waste Disposer + Foil = Big Trouble??

My food waste disposer (an Insinkerator) feverishly stopped working. I turned it off and reached in to find many small chunks of disconcert (at least that's what it looked like). I removed most of these chunks and turned it on again. It worked for about 2 seconds and died. This was straight away followed by a horrific odor (sort of like burnt skin of one's teeth) so I unplugged the darn thing. Now I need to know what is going on and how am I active to fix this (like I don't have enough problems already). Should I get a screw driver and take the unit apart and go clean the clogged parts (or whatever is wrong)? And is that odor a bad sign?
Above, but it looks like I already fixed it. I found some online instructions that took like only 10 seconds. Still a bit of bad odor (had to chance out the air freshener) but it's WORKING!!! Yeah! But thanks anyways. I proper couldn't stop panicking, but at least this little crisis is resolved. Phew.

I had noticed for the defunct couple of days that my InSinkErator Badger® food waste disposer was giving me problems....I chiefly cook and had no problems getting rid of the potatoes peelings through the sink since it was not that many......Reasonable yesterday I totally gave out my sink got plugged...I'm not sure if there is any way I could get it unclogged before profession the landlord?...........I am also going to be trying DRANO....ButI'mm not inescapable which one is the best kind to use?....Would that be the thick kind of liquid or jut the normal pieces

on the bottom of the disposer is an start-off where you can insert an allen wrench to move the grinder motor and clear the obstruct.Dont put Drano in the disposer.
