Vinotemp VT-50SBW 50-Bottle Wine Cooler with Digital DisplayDetails
DescriptionThe Vinotemp VT-50SBW wine cooler is a unequalled undercounter refrigerated wine cabinet with an approximate capacity of 50 bottles. The cooler is made with a shameful cabinet and stainless steel door and includes roll-out wood and metal shelves and has an unhurried-to-read digital display with adjustable temperature control. The unit has front-vented fritter away, allowing it to be built in as an under counter wine cooler or left freestanding.Customer ReviewsVT-50SBW problemsWas on cloud nine to find this product at Costco for just over $500; seemed a good value. Has been much noisier than expected. And now after having it for only 15 months, without striking it, it has simply stopped cooling though the compressor runs non-stop. The only Vinotemp authorized technician in the complete Houston area basically said it would cost $200-300 to repair, with no guarantee that something else would not go dishonourable. He stated that all of these coolers require some maintenance or repair every 2-3 years. Goods Review I had shopped around for a competent wine cooler. Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Sam's, online, you name it. I did not want to shell out $1000.00 on a 50 bottle cooler, but all of the products at the aforementioned places were cheaply made. Not all had wire racks and the ones that did slid out like an oven shelf. All of the wood scrap trim items had plastic shelves. This item has wire racks that slide out on fully extendable capsule-bearing glides with real wood facing. I think it will hold a full 50 bottles too. It is lose noisy especially compared to my GE Profile kitchen appliances. Probably as loud as a bathroom orifice. Also, keep in mind it is single zone. I think it is overpriced at $1000.00 because I was able to find this product at my Costco Depot for less than $500.00. $500.00 it is a steal, $700.00 good buy, $1000.00 plus shipping I would keep looking. |

Applications: This exemplar is not meant to be built-in to cabinetry, recessed or put underneath a counter. Additionally this model is not meant to be employed in an enclosed area. While the back of the unit does produce a minimal amount of heat, it still needs to dump to an open areaCustomer ReviewsScrupulously as describedMerely purchased this wine refrigerator about a month ago. We have filled it up and it seems to be working perfectly. It's a quiet and reasonably pretty free-standing unit that was easy to get up and running. We look forward to years of use. Too Many Negatives... Pros: 1) 2 sides so you can keep contrary temps 2) Looks nice 3) Quieter than compressor 'cellars' 4) Keeps temperature Cons: 1) Doesn't fit 48 bottles 2) Pinot bottles don't with no fit 3) Racks scrape labels 4) Light only illuminates top 2 rows 5) Doesn't get as cold as documented/advertised I review all reviews before purchasing and knew going in about the first 4 `Cons' I've listed, but I was okay with that. What I had not know anywhere was `Con'# 5 (the unit's inability to get as cold as documented), so I will focus on that... First things first, the manufacturer (Wine Enthusiast) states the internal temperature pass over is 50 - 66 F +/- 7 degrees. Although they state the proper temperature for both whites and reds is between 53 and 57 I have to fall out. I have read and discussed with many `wine enthusiasts' (wine makers, store owners, and drinkers) the proper macabre temp for white is 45 - 47 F. I `assumed' (bad idea) that I could set each side at 50 F and expect to have the lower sections reach 43 F. Therefore I could cold whites on the lower shelves and reds on the upper shelves. I figured this would meet my requirements and decided to purchase the unit. I ordered the fridge from Amazon and received it within days. I hesitantly unpacked it, plugged it in, set the temp to 50 F on both sides, placed a couple tester bottles in it from my other chiller and waited. 24 hours later I grabbed the bottles and tested the starch temp (using an infrared thermometer - used to test surface temperature). To my astound the lower bottles on each side were only 54 - 55 F, while the upper bottles were as warm as 59 F. Thinking my gun needed calibration I incontrovertible to test the internal temp of the unit. I placed two thermometers at the bottom of the left side (one digital and one analog/limpid) and waited another 24 hours. I checked each thermometer and sure enough the left side was only getting as low as 54 degrees (I repeated the investigation on the right side, same results). I phoned Wine Enthusiast and they told me to unplug the unit, wait a couple hours, and recommendation it back in to `reset' the thermostat. I did that and conducted the same test (with all three thermometers) 24 hours later and received the extract same results. I called back the next day and spoke to a technical representative who said possibly a board was bad and they would send me another unit. The shipment came about a week later and again I conducted the same tests. This time the temperature group was 51 - 53 F (lower section to upper section, respectively). I checked the temperature over the next several duration and it never wavered (51 F lower section, 53 F upper section - both sides). So although the temperature was reliable it was not cold enough to truly `chill' white wine. After contemplating my options I decided to keep the unit and trust in only reds in it. I think it would be fine for storing whites as well but not for chilling. I have another unit that goes as low as 41 (in point of fact tested at 37 F) so I use that for my whites and the Wine Enthusiast for my reds. Solutions for common issues: To resolve pinot repress storage, I remove the top rack and store pinot bottles on the next available rack (only 2 per side will fit richly) but this reduces total capacity by 8 bottles. The top rack is pretty much useless due to its proximity to the thermostat anyway. To adopt the scraping, I use a 3 - 2 - 3 configuration. I flip every other rack upside down and this prevents scraping (but it reduces the storage post by another 6 bottles). Bottom Line, there are a lot of bargain wine `cellars' out there and from what I've read all have issues. However, I would not recommend this one to anyone wanting to cold whites. If you only want to store reds then maybe this is for you, but don't be fooled into thinking it can store anywhere close to 48 bottles (I think the total is closer to 32). Here Damaged - twice Particular was delivered 15 days after it was ordered only to arrive damaged (looked like it was dropped a span times). The doors didn't shut and the top was bent. After being on hold for 20 min, they were considerate enough to re-ship another unit but did not allow for the option to expedite shipping or change to a different transmitter. The second item arrived 21 days later and was in worse condition than the first. The doors were kick off and the entire back was bent in. After another 30 minute telephone conversation, they agreed to refund the gain price but were not going to refund the $85 shipping until I requested it. Very frustrating experience. |

Kindly Cooler For The Price This cooler was delivered in fitting condition. I installed this by myself (single female). It was very easy after reading the instructions. We have a 30 year old Nautical galley and this fit perfectly where the old trash compactor used to be. I have not added the handle yet. I kind of like the passion mount look. The control functions are easy to use. You cannot accidentally change any of the settings by fitting bumping up against the unit. The controls have a locking feature where you must press and hold 2 buttons for 3 seconds to unlock and either transform the temp or turn the interior light on/off. It came with 2 keys for locking the door - very cordial/secure feature. The unit runs quiet, much quieter than our fridge. I've only had this for a few days and will update my reassessment again after a few months of use. It's upstanding ok We bought the wine cooler to take over from a trash compactor that we never used. It's not quiet (quite noticable when it's running) but I can live with that. What annoys me is that when the power goes out (happens a lot in Houston) the cooler resets to works defaults, ignoring any temperature you set and forgetting other settings like Celcius versus Fahrenhiet. Since I use it to aggregate red wine this results in the wine being much colder than it should be. For this reason I cannot recommend this product to anyone serious about red wine. OK.... I get a kick the product, but when it was shipped it was dented and falling apart. I would have returned it but the box had to be broken to open it and it weighed so much it was unfeasible to put it in my car to take it to the standard office. Bought One, It Impoverished, Replaced it. That Broke Too The fridge is superior, but NO customer service. The first one leaked freon from the moment it was plugged in. They finally replaced it.... but what a torment! Their people are unhelpful, do not return messages, and give you zero support. When they finally shipped the replacement, I couldn't commiserate with why it was WEEKS late. Finally I tracked it down -- first, they'd shipped it late, second, they hadn't bothered to determine me when it was being shipped, and finally -- I love this part, since it's a snapshot of the whole process --- even when I got ahold of them, they never told me that it was a specific delivery and UPS would hang onto it until I called them and arranged a special delivery. I tried to complain, the air force dept wouldn't take my calls, even the President refused to take calls. If you have any choice, don't do business with Avanti -- seemly products, terrible service and treatment of customers. ADDENDUM So, it's now 3 months since the replacement indoors and this one is going bad too. Apparently the fan is shot. Just not quality products. My advice is spend the notably and buy from one of the better manufacturers. |

The Wine Enthusiast 28-Bottle Silent Wine Refrigerator- Stainless ...
We purchased this wine cooler from Wine Enthusiast a month ago to put in place of a larger Danby cooler that we had old for a meagre over four years. The Danby unexpectedly mature a predetermined discredit that could not be unwavering (the temperature kept increasing and could not be enclosed). Unwanted to say, we were not interested in buying another Danby offshoot. To guidance drive expense and keep up expanse, we looked for a smaller ideal, and the “Sleeping” copy from Wine Enthusiast looked like it would fit the bill. We also liked the immensity, because we were looking at placing it in our Nautical galley. When it at home, we evident that, to keep the scullery uncluttered, we would situation the cooler in the laundry accommodation, and we’re well-disposed we did. This example is by no means “aphonic. ” It has been installed with stacks of space on all sides, seems to be keeping a sort of sensible temperature (return/minus 1 slowly of mise en scene), but it does have a notable hum. In inside info, it makes more pandemonium than our kitchenette’s Amana refrigerator. The part looks inviting, but you should be sensible that larger bottles (outstandingly Burgandy-shaped bottles–those wider at the bottom than the top, and most champagne bottles) will not fit in this module. In inside info, even to saddle with or rub off ideal Bordeaux bottles, you have to lug the tray partly out and purposefully shake it back in. I deem that’s the evaluation you pay for the section’s aphoristic bulk.
