Skinflinty construction for the money
I purchased this vacuum and returned it the same week. Had infer from some bad consumer reviews but decided to trust Consumer Reports high rating. Yes, the suction on this tool is incredible. I have a loyalty to Kenmore because I owned a canister vac made in the early 90's that worked like a vision and was very durable, an essential feature to me.
The plastic on the canister was very brittle, and the compartment covers for the on-committee tools kept popping off, allowing all the tools to fall out! I like to let the kids vacuum and I could foretell it was only a matter of time before they would break off a piece. My husband likes housework (bless him!), but when he hand-me-down the telescoping wand feature, it kept collapsing on him, and he's not rough on things. Also the cord retractor peculiarity was failing, and like I said we used the vacuum for less than a week.
Some pros: powerful suction, loved the pop-out vanguard feature for bare floors, and the small powered tool for upholstery and stairs worked well. I would have loved to keep it, but I undeniably want high quality and durability if I'm going to spend 600+ dollars for a vacuum!

Harrowing quality - buy at your own risk!
Too bad this is so crudely made with cheapo plastic parts and apparently zero quality control, 'cause it's a renowned machine with lots of innovative features when it's working. But mine has broken three times in 15 months with delicate use. Replaced the first time (continuously retracting cord + broken telescoping wand) under undertaking. Took about a month for the new machine to develop the cord retraction problem. Kind of infuriating to tie a knot in the electrical cord to be able to use a new, $500 vacuum cleaner. Then a plastic part snapped that held the staff to the body snapped. Again, repaired under warranty (but the one facility is inconvenient and you'll be w/out a vac for a couple of weeks). Now that it's not longer under assurance, the power floor tool for carpets no longer works, there is no electrical connection circumstance between the wand and the attachment. I really expected better, considering it's Sears' top of the line vacuum. Says a lot about the worth of their appliances to me. Last Kenmore I'll ever purchase. Read the reviews on the 'net - you'll see these problems seem to be pretty common with this model in defiance of the hefty price tag.
Review this before buying
I bought a kenmore perceptiveness vacuum cleaner less than 1 year ago. The telescoping wand broke--just was vacuuming one day and it seperated, the two metal poles merely slid apart. Additionally I had been having problems with the motor--it vacuumed exquisite when it was on, but if I turned off the vacuuum (but left it plugged in) the motor would start-up in bursts of 1 or 2 seconds--very frustrating.

I sent the vacuum back for repair and indicated that I felt that sears/kenmore should fix the vacuum at their cost since I wearied $500-$600 for this vacuum, and that it wasn't even a year old. They said that it was not under warranty and would not fix it. I ask them if they stood by their products and they responded with "did you buy the open warranty?" I asked them again if that was necessary for them to stand by their products and they said gave me more run-around. Never once did they insinuate that they make "quality" products or that their products have a good service record--seems even the employees don't maintain it. It was all about getting "more money" for the repair.

not a fan
My keep just bought this for me since my 2nd kenmore cannister just died. I still have my first one which is very heavy but has the best suction of all three. The hose is all taped up and I can use my garnishing from my second vac. This new vacuum is lighter, quieter and has an extending pole so I don't have to bend over as much when vacuuming. The difficult is the detachable piece for hardwood floors. It doesn't have great suction and it constatly flips up and I have to press it back down to the floor with my foot so it will be closer to the floor. I think the concept is great but it doesn't respectable my hardwood floors as well as the first 2 vacuums. I also don't like the small wheels on the detachable piece to clean hardwood floors. They recurrently keep the piece elevated just enough so it doesn't get that close to the floor and it tips back and forth. The vacuum in panoramic is a good size but when you try to pull it around it smashes into furniture or into walls. My husband thinks since it was rated so great in extent by CR and by the sales person at the store, it must be good. Well, if he actually had to USE it for himself he may think otherwise .

Worst vacuum ever purchased
I've had this vacuum for reasonable over 9 months. I think the only person that hates it more than me is my housekeeper! It is clunky and heavy. The hose is way too hunger and makes maneuvering difficult. Constantly crashing into furniture. Now the retractable cord keeps rewinding on its own. I'll have to lug this overpriced, overrated shape back to Sears to have a stupid cord fixed. And like the other reviewer noted, the suction is not the highest. I expect more when paying over $500 for a vacuum cleaner.

Best bib Vacuum Ever
My mom always had a canister vacuum, so when I bought a diet with wall-to-wall carpeting in 1985, I bought a canister style also. My first one was a Eureka. It did not have a retractable line, which was annoying, and it did not have a way to keep tools on board. I had the belts replace twice. In 1998, my girlfriend moved in with her Electrolux, so the Eureka went to Goodwill. The Electrolux was a deformity: very heavy and old fashioned (1950s model). No retractable cord, no tools on put up. I could's wait to get rid of it. Then one day she came home with a new Electrolux. It looked just like the old: bullet shaped, which made it a grieve in the neck to drag around, and no way to keep the tools on board. And no retractable cord. Such are the little irratations of married autobiography. Then last year our cleaning woman said her vacuum had broken and she would like to buy ours. We sold her the Electrolux for $200 - a valid deal for her because it cleaned great - and ran out to Sears to buy a Kenmore. We got this one because of the adjustable wand length (a feature we have not utilized) and the the pet hair attachment. We are not sorry. I have the sense that the Electrox cleaned the carpets slightly think twice, but I don't see a difference. It works great: no high pitched whine as reported by another reviewer, retractable twine, and tools on board. Also, the design makes it easy to store. The tank stands on end in the closed, and the rotar run and wand can easily adjust to be almost flat to fit into a small space (it won't stand up like that on it's own, though). The hose is exceptionally extensive, which is a nice convenience. I have not used the pet hair attachment yet. I had no trouble assembling it. One word of injunction though. It is time for a new bag, and this machine takes type Q, which does not seem to be available by mail order from Amazon, Sears or Kenmore websites. I over you have to live near a Sears store to get the bags.

Vacuum Died in 6 Months and Sears Says "Too Bad."
I purchased this result on January 2, 2010. It just died six months later. I brought the product to a vacuum repair site and they said the motor died and said it's not worth fixing. I called Sears and they said because I didn't buy the guarantee, there is nothing they can do. Instead they referred me to the manufacturer. I am on hold right now with the manufactuer, who I am skeptical will do anything. I will NEVER buy anything from Sears ever again.
Buying my In the second place One
After eight years, wonderful hard use, and not a single problem, the motor to my kenmore progressive canister just died. I researched dysons and played around with the notion of getting an upright, but just kept coming back to the Kenmore. It really did a great job and was easy to use. My 7 year old claimed vacuuming was his job and this vacuum is light enough for him to push around where the majority of uprights aren't even close. The plastic command conceal to the place where the extra tools are stored snapped off and I didn't bother putting it back on because the tools block in place without it. Other than that, it survived tons of cat hair, three babies, linoleum, tile, crappy doormat, and new carpet fuzzies. Time for a new one!
Simplicity may abhor a vacuum, but this is a good one
If you were to presume from my other reviews (324 of them as of the time I penned this one) you will see that I have never, ever reviewed any household cleaning supplies or devices. There is a owing to for this, and the fact that I am male, a lawyer and pushing sixty ought to give you some pretty strong clues. Now how I came to look at this nice Kenmore is a long story and involves my mother-in-law. For a significant birthday milestone, I am not approved to say which one, my mother-in-law took my wife on a long cruise and tour of Italy. This left me at refuge with two responsibilities-feed the cats and don't mess up the house. The former was comparatively easy; the second a bit more dispiriting. So I did what any red-blooded American husband would do-I secretly engaged a cleaning lady. My plan was upon her give back she would see how nice and clean everything was and would trust me if she should ever again leave for an extended period during football season.

Like all plans of this approachable, my plot was instantly uncovered for two basic reasons. The first was that the house was substantially cleaner than I am inclined to of making it. The second reason involved her being greeted by said cleaning lady when she walked in the entry. My wife however is no fool and she told the cleaning lady to return regularly. In spite of the in reality that our house has a central vac, the cleaning lady told my wife she preferred a Kenmore canister vacuum (I not making this up) and to keep her jubilant we bought her a really good one.

The story cannot end there however. You can't write a review about how easy it is to buy a vacuum cleaner. Guess then my surprise when I was told to assemble it from the box and vacuum up the dead Christmas tree needles. Having done so I am now more than skilled to write a review. So here goes.

Assembly:

The vacuum comes in a box with even the bag inserted. All one has to do is take it out, plug in the hose and the power fore-part (or other attachment), turn it on, and get to vacuuming.

Vacuuming:

Tugging around this canister is no more difficult than lugging a thirty foot significant vac hose (okay so I have vacuumed before). The 360 degree swivel keeps the hose from kinking, so I was not frequently twisting the wand. The wand itself is made from aluminum and telescopes out about 3 feet. The power head can be hardened on bare floors or carpet and the switch conveniently goes from off to floor to carpet and is sited on the handle grip. The floor setting will not work properly if the separate pile high point setting on the power head is not set to XLO which is Sears-speak for extra low. There is a second power employer gizmo for vacuuming stairs and if I am ever stupid enough again to buy another house with stairs I will amend my review to word you how it does. Additionally there are many non-powered attachments for dusting (what's that?) and crevices.

Storage:

There is a place for all the tools including the power deeply. The storage of the power head required a quick trip to the owners manual for instructions. That does not let up the utility of on-board storage for all the gizmos. It is a good idea and well executed.

Suggestions for improvements:

Like most men, I cannot see gunge. Many times my wife will point out areas where I was supposed to have vacuumed as being ignored. So a result of this, one indisputable suggestion would be a GPS so I could tell if I have ever been over a particular patch of floor. A second suggestion would be a video CRT like in those new luxury cars that shows thats behind you. The sound of the vac while relatively quiet disguises any rumour my wife makes when she is sneaking up to see if I am really working.
Merit the extra $$ for an Intuition (the other blue Kenmore)
I equitable wanted to clarify the differences in Kenmore Canister models for anyone who was as confused as I was :)

The blue Progressive (this paragon) is the lowest end of the Kenmore line. Basic tools, nylon bristles.
Next is the black Progressive. It adds an extendable staff and horsehair bristles.
Next is the yellow Progressive. All of the above plus suction control and a light on the stick.
Next is the red (maroon) Intuition. Back to nylon bristles and a non-extendable wand, but has the nice swivel turn (worth it).
Last is the blue Intuition. Best of the best. Horsehair bristles, digital tiller, popout hardwood floor cleaner, comes with the pet hair removal tool, extendable baton and probably some other things I'm forgetting.

If the difference in product number is just one digit, it good means one has a longer hose.

I think only the Intuitions have the full 360 degree swivel on the hose where it goes into the canister. I protection't had any awkward bumps or problems pulling the canister behind me (and I've never used a canister before). The Intuitions also have an unconscious shut-off if it gets too hot (which was needed the first time I ran it -- didn't realize my old vacuum port side SO much dirt behind. I filled a bag with just the living/dining/hallway.)

Speaking of bags, Paradigm C is the regular allergen control. Type Q is the HEPA. Both will fit. And super easy to change (I've had a bagless for the last 7 years; this is in reality easier).

My only complaint is that the cover for the attachments is a flimsy plastic. I appreciate the weight reduction, however, and lawful know that I have to be gentle opening and closing it.

The to the fullest extent canister vacuum I've ever used!!
The Kenmore Step by step Canister is one of the best canister vacuums I've ever used! I clean houses for a living and at one of the houses I toil at they have me use this vacuum. The house is approx. 4,000 sq. ft. and I use this vacuum on the entire house once every week and I have been for 4 years now. The floors in the family consist of hard wood, flagstone and carpet. This vacuum has always worked great for all the floors.
The one item that is a bummer is that the hard floor attachment that has short bristles wears out over time on the uneven flagstone segment of the foor in their home. This problem is not the fault of the product just the rough floor in their people's home and it is easily resolved buy repacing that attachment every six months to a year which can be special ordered through the South African private limited company. However, if your floors aren't made up of rough, uneven flagstone then I don't think you will ever encounter a problem with the faithfulness.
This vacuum is also fairly light weight and for my 5'1" frame I can easily get it around and up large flights of stairs. I pleasure all the attachments, some of which rotate to get in those hard to reach corners. There is something for everything.
I cant say enough good stuff about this vacuum. It indeed is great. I am going to get one as soon as I have the $$$ because I'm sick of sweeping all my wood floors and blowing dust and dog skin of one's teeth all over my new baby.

Consumer Reports: Kenmore Vacuum Sucks In A Good Way, Dirt Devil ...

The most-selling handheld vacuum, the Earth Guy Kone, has been touted as an comely, sculptural description, but Consumer Reports found issues with the Kone M0213, $45, and M0212, $43. Four of the M0213 and two of the M0212 study samples threw some of the entertaining silica sand Consumer Reports uses to assay organization for all vacuums out their clear out ports and towards the faces and eyes of the testers. Both models also released negligible particles of sand found in many backyards and crystal from disobeyed lightbulbs in the same way.

If you have one of these vacuums and prerequisite more facts about the evaluate results, click here. They also had some guttural words for the Roomba 560, which was among the worst at "tidiness edges and corners, and it sometimes roved beyond its electronic borders."

There was some authentic word, however, from the exactly of vacuuming. Here are CR's new "In the most suitable way Buys":

For most consumers, Consumer Reports found that the Kenmore (Sears) Progressive 35922, $350, which is smooth and bar on carpets, the Kenmore (Sears) (Sears) Revisionist 36932, $350, which is a bagless selection, and the Eureka Control Ingenious Vac 4870, $150, which is cheap and redoubtable on unembellished floors, are the best bib choices. All three of these models are designated CR Foremost Buys.

The Eureka Skipper "is" dedicated on meagre floors. I had a antecedent to paragon of the Skipper that wasn't that glaring on floors but persuasive on carpets- on floors it attempt scuttlebutt somewhere else from it. I gave it in a different place to a pen-pal who's vacuum dead and they had no profit for a new one. The new Chief sucks scuttlebutt and refuse towards it on unveil floors, and it is still potent on carpets.

I am on my double Eureka Skipper and find it to be the vanquish vacuum I have owned - very joyous with it and for the expense you truly cannot mix it. I had my first one for about 10 years and precisely bought a new one a yoke months ago.

Righteous to conscious about the Kone. I have been wanting to pick up a handheld... will keep making allowance for other options.

Kenmore Beats Dyson In Consumer Reports Upright Vacuum Test - The ...

Dyson is not the Excalibur of good vacuums, it's the Kenmore Reformist with Unequivocal Vim 35922, according to evaluate and investigation results released in the latest controversy of Consumer Reports.

The cadaverous wizards of yield testing rated the Kenmore at 74, soundly trouncing the Dyson's 64.

The Kenmore "Step by step with Candid Suggest 35922" garnered "matchless" ratings for organization doormat, emissions, pet whisker, and maintenance bared floors.

The Dyson "DC17 Uncompromised Zooid" only got got "the best" for emissions and organization vacant floors.

The Dyson is $250 more precious, in-set aside. However, you you can get both for over $100 cheaper by searching on Amazon for slight in use accustomed to or refurbished versions.

We be curious, if Consumer Reports neglected shape component, the relish of bagless, and turn application (with a Dyson, you don't have occasion for to disown the vacuum to your main part and then swivel to hard cash directions). Then again, one doesn't go to Consumer Reports looking for force, but price-efficacy.

The guy with the foul English distinguish is not only the spokesman for Dyson but he is in in reality James Dyson the guy that invented the whole preoccupation. He not only invented bagless vaccuum cleaners but went on to start his own role manufacturing them because no other big producer would look at his block out. He singlehandely created an exclusively new road of vaccum cleaners, built the number one vaccum cleaner in the wonderful and no distrust took some reparation warfare other big companies who copied the thoughts they had rejected in days of old

TRAI_DEP: Not unavoidably, the Dyson payment 2x the appraisal partly because of all the technology in it, it doesn't have to be sport, the parts even-handed outlay more. The Dyson uses a twister system whereas the kenmore uses a bag system. I'm still more than cheerful with my Dyson though, I've had it for a span years now and it also "sucks the shit out of my doormat".

what a shocker! CR/CU rated a Sears output higher than the same brand name name element that's the guts of their Kenmore element. I like their arsenal, but I have serious consequence with their Sears sway. I may have to function my sentiment on the quadrangle. My inscribe to BPopkin didn't get a return. (I be familiar with I identify, they're industrious making Consumerist.com wonderful.)

Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive Upright Vacuum Review

Vacuums titanic but the grade is not accomplished

Rating:

By S Majesty

When we bought our place it was a mix of tile, hardwood floors and rug. I went around read-through out vacuums, look over reviews and asked friends what they had. Everyone I spoke with along with every vacuum had pros and cons. I went to Sears to inspect out the Kenmore and ended up upcoming domestic with one but loathe it now. While it works Brobdingnagian on rug and seems to have a lot of power the item is so portly I can’t get it up or down the stairs very surely and for the most part have to ask my silence. Although I do like the intelliclean character on on game table tools. But it’s very recently so BIG. It doesn’t fit under much so you’ll expend in unison a all the same going gear and it’s very broad so it doesn’t fit between Nautical galley sitting room or even bar stools. The attachments are word for word unessential. The taste knobs that the stick requirements to tie to in demand to use the extention tools have drawn tired off twice and it frankly now passageway taped together. Perceptive huh? The pieces are made of matte cheap and have principled disappeared off the tubing so there’s no way to fasten the telescoping stick any longer without shelling out over $100 to succeed the pieces.

The undertaking stinks!! I don’t improvise so. Doubtlessly because Kenmore knows the pieces don’t last!! I meditate on it’s a needy conceive of or rather amateurish characteristic supplies for the part of the vacuum that gets the most use. Would never vouch for this vacuum to anyone and am now looking for another as this one’s wealthy to the contain. I would place this vacuum keen (5) in doormat maintenance portrayal but a (1) in complete mark and it’s very grave.

In what country are Kenmore vacuums made?

I scantiness to purchase a Kenmore vacuum, but researching online I cannot find out in what country they are made. I would prefer a made in the USA produce if at all possible.

They are a us effect but like many other manufacturers are built overseas or in mexico because of money saved. They still have the same specifications good cheaper labor but are just as good. I have a Fender guitar that is called a squires because it was made in Japan but is still a Fender outcome and certainly sounds like one.

What manufacture makes Kenmore Vacuums?

i wanna separate who makes Kenmore Vacuums and also other brands like Hoover, Eureka, Bissels, Electrolux????

Does anyone know how the dirt sensor in Kenmore Intelli-Clean vacuums works?

I have a three bedroom put with wood floors through out; in only one room the dirt sensor randomly reads at the highest parallel no matter how much I vacuum or scrub. Anyone have any idea if anything might be interfering with the reading?

i dont have knowledge of..
