Miele Eco Friendly Earth Canister Vacuum Cleaner S5481Details
DescriptionThe Eco-comfortable Miele Earth S5 canister vacuum helps to conserve energy without loss of performance. This potent vacuum is perfect for carpeting, smooth floors, and pet hair. It can do it all. Includes a 3 integrated attachments return the 300-3 Bare floor brush. The 217 Electric Power Nozzle is efficient on all types of carpeting and area rugs. Of course this machine comes with the Active HEPA Seep installed making it Miele's Certified HEPA Vacuum.Customer ReviewsCrucial vacuum - attachments are OK.This is a weighty vacuum. I thought long and hard about spending $1,000 on a vacuum. It was NOT an easy decision. 5 Stars for the vacuum itself but looses a act due to the attachments. PROS: The vacuum itself is great. Powerful suction, low noise (much lower than any other vacuum I've ever heard) which makes it less infuriating to vacuum, the auto-power feature works well (remember, it's the amount of air flow that counts, unless your distressing to pick up a bowling ball) and it's less strain on the motor, I definitely noticed the REAL HEPA filtering on this vacuum, no stink an no dust blowing around. CONS: The ergonomic handle is OK when using the floor attachments but makes dusting shelves and other items fastidious when using the attachments. It is also bulking making it difficult to get under and around items. Their solution is to purchase the car maintenance kit or the micro kit at $150 - 175. For $1,000 it should have the option to remove the ergonomic handle. This would have been helpful. All-inclusive I'm happy with the purchase because I have bad dust allergies and no other vacuum has had real HEPA filtering. I decided my robustness was worth the expense. You'll Use Vacuuming! (Maybe.) Be vigilant for Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1UF9RCVAKV6XA I wrote a lengthy review of this vacuum for my website (touch free to check it out if you want -- see video for URL), but for Amazon I'll summarize it: this is a great vacuum. I sanctuary't had experience with other Miele models, but if this thing is any indication, Miele makes a line of first-rate machines. Here is a quick rundown of SOME (but not all) of the advantages and disadvantages of this unit: Pros: +Excellent filtration (as passable as it gets) +Quieter than any vacuum I've ever heard +Low ground clearance +Well designed/engineered in pretty much every position (I love the cord winder, wheels, bags, auto-shutoff, etc!) +Looks unqualifiedly slick while still subdued (doesn't scream "I'm a Dyson!") Cons: -Typical disadvantages of being a canister vac. Sometimes bloody-minded to maneuver around corners/doors, sometimes a pain trying to reposition hose. -Attaching/detaching definite tools and the wand itself can be a little awkward at times -Price is steep! The bottom line is that if you can rich enough it, you absolutely can't go wrong with this vacuum (or presumably any Miele). I give it 5 stars because, while not *perfect*, it certainly is the best vacuum I've ever seen or acclimatized...and by a landslide. Note: If you have carpet, I'd recommend any model in the S5 line (except the Pisces, which doesn't list a powered brush head). For primarily hard floors, any of the Miele models should assemble your needs. the ruinous of suction Ten duration in. Last week, my wife on the other end of the phone said "I don't like it, it's too hard to push on the carpet" (her first use). "What!" I intention, four figures lighter in my wallet and she doesn't like it. I got home after work and the machine was Scrooge-like by in the basement. I picked up the handle with the carpet head and tried it. The head glided over the doormat with no resistance, "it feels ok I said". "You have to turn it on", she said. I replied something like "ok, you uncharitable because you now have a vacuum cleaner that actually sucks hard enough to give some resistance, you don't like it!" She must have though about this because lately she has commented on how quiet it is and how it does the things so well, she isn't going to give it up now. Is it possible to give an unbiased view after spending over $1000 on a vacuum cleaner. Let's just say here's my 2 cents. - the canister is a bit heavier than I kindliness but no different from the old Kenmore canister. - the machine is quiet for a vacuum cleaner but that does not mean it's quiet, i.e. some expert progress has been made with appliances such as dishwashers (almost silent) but I won't hold my breathe for vacuum cleaners or hair dryers. - the components look and bear good quality and they work well together. - I cannot get the hang of hooking the brush and handle to the canister to wagon upright when not in use. The mechanism does not work well, it takes several tries but this is small potatoes. - as mentioned superlative suction and the auto setting can be over-ridden. - the delivery from United Vacuums (via Amazon) beat the plan by a couple days in excellent condition - the switches and lights are intuitive and its easy to travail controls by foot and not having to bend over. - my wife who doesn't read manuals, understand the manual and is teaching me things about it - the compartments open and close with ease and feel unyielding No complaints so far and we're banking on things staying that way for a while as in years, that's what we paid for. |

Any decent vacuum that is not a total piece of junk will have enough power. What sets Miele to one side from the competition are other things: - Noise level. The Miele really is significantly quieter than my anterior vacuum. I live in an apartment with shared walls and could never vacuum at night. Now I can. - Exhaust direction. I have hardwood floors and the points that the exhaust of the Miele points UP means that it doesn't scatter dirt into the air like my prior to vacuum cleaner. With my previous vacuum, I would do all the floors and then 30 minutes later it would be covered in dirt again once the dust settled. Not so with the Miele. - The parquet perplex brush is great for hardwood floors. Well worth it. - Variable power. Being able to convert DOWN the suction power is actually very useful. For example, if you're vacuuming a door mat, you can just start it down so it doesn't suck the mat up into the vacuum (like my previous vacuum did). Here are the very minor issues I have with it: - The power cord is a bit too pithy. I have to replug once to do my 700 sq ft. apartment. - There is no way to know if the vacuum is in the on or off position when it is not plugged in. So if the power button got bumped while it was unplugged, then it might manner on the moment you plug it in next time. - At $600, they could've included a simple pouch to store the powerhead and parquet groom. - The box had a lot of empty space in it. So now I have to store a big box. Almost perfect vacuum, maybe should spend a little more Received module today, in person, not impressive to look at,doesn't look expensive and I guess for a Miele, it's not. All the power anyone could ever destitution, ever! Cleans like a demon, nice swivel action, pretty darn serene too. Great powerhead and parquet floor brush. Hate the attachment to the unit for short tools, will be leaving that off. Cord is too short,I had read that, well they are right, by about 6 feet, hose also could be a foot longer, small hose though. I have purchased maybe 15 machines to try and find one that does it right, this will be close enough, I possibly should have bought their top of the line to fix those few short comings.I am used to heaver older well made units, abhorrence ones with bad hand feel, amazed it can clean so well. A keeper. miele s2180 We are bloody happy with our new vacuum. First time owners of a Miele. The canister is light so it will tip over on occasion. However, we are still getting tailored to each other! Set up issues, but good vac, 3 1/2 stars would be right I waited until I owned this for 6 months before reviewing and I'm thrilled I did because now I have a real feel for its strengths and weaknesses. I use this 3x weekly meaning it's in and out of the closet a lot, so I can safely say that it is much easier to shop than any cannister I've owned before (and I've owned a few Kenmores and Electroluxes). It does suck things up and I like the compliant suction for area rugs and upholstery...this thing is powerful on full blast. A plus is that it starts up slowly, gradually construction power and it is fairly quiet as vacuums go. Can't imagine why anyone would call this "very, very heavy" even after reading the posters response to comments. This fad is light compared with similarly powered vacs (not the cheap lightweight ones that die in a year), and like I said, I've had numbers. Now for the issues of this post's title: 1) I was told that this thing was so perfectly sealed that I would not smell the backdraft, which is patently simulated. I can still smell pet hair and the bags are so expensive I wait until they are more or less full to change them out. 2) The cord length is ludicrous. Like a previous poster said, if this is extra-long I wouldn't want to see the squat version. Ridiculous...I now keep a 25 foot heavy duty extension with it. 3) The 3-wheel draft may have worked conceptually, but it sure doesn't work when trying to move this thing from room to leeway. It tips over, catches on doorjambs, tips over...did I mention it tips over? 4) "On-board storage"...not so much. The smaller tools do fit on a disconcerted attachment that clips on to the hose base, but the wand with the brush attached is supposed to slither vertically down into a crevice on the back of the cannister between the cord reel and the power button; it is best to swoon the wand when doing this so as to better maintain the machine's balance, which is already suspect. The groove is already running at a loss its tightness and the wand doesn't stay as upright as it used to...I can already tell this will become a major pest later when I can't stand the wand in the groove and it flops around the closet. Overall, for the price, the deisgn issues should not be so glaringly bald. a slowly up and beyond I have been doing the vacuuming of our 2 bed two tub florida patio home for the past several years. I am a 60+ male who agreed to portion the housework with my wife.I have been used to Hoover and Eureka uprights for years. I have had tennis elbow for a year and the vacuuming doesn't assist matters. I finally told my wife that it was time to investigate a better solution. Thus i researched canisters. I went to a website that reviews all notable brands. I even called the carpet dealer who installed our 2 year old plush frize screen to wall. He recommended a dyson which he said works great for he and his two dogs. I researched some more and pronounced to risk the big chunk of cash( my wife and I are both retired)on the Titan. I got the cleaner today .What a joy and the ease of use is marvellous.IT feels like a piece of quality workmanship! It is very powerful and I ran it on the lowest setting which included the tile, low rugs and the impediment to wall. I let my wife try it and she said she liked it.I took someone's suggestion of putting fragrent oil on a cotten tablet and letting the vacuum have it.Now our house feels clean and smells fresh! The person who complained about the threatening wand, why not try the heavy eureka boss for "heavy." I feel that i will now enjoy my job of vacuuming. And it is a prominent deal quieter than my Eureka! So thanks Miele and Amazon.I will recommend to all my friends! |

We use is on carpet, stairs, hardwood, area rugs, around litter boxes and for the car. It is well posted on and easy to maneuver. I added a ElectroPlus Powerbrush and there is really nothing this thing can't do. Mostly over the moon It's a important vacuum for sure. And much much quieter then our Kenmore. Fantastic for upholstery and the car. I mean really, really exotic. And great on carpet. Its biggest weakness is bare floors -- I think the down attachment is just too big to maintain a really high level of suction. It picks up scrap fine, but not things like Cheerios. And with a three-year-old, that's kind of a problem. I'm guessing another affinity -- the parquet tool or smooth floor tool -- would solve the unmanageable. But I shouldn't have to pay another $60 to get a $500 vacuum to pick of Cheerios. If it came with a bare floor decoration, I'd easily give it 5 stars. As it stands, I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars. I like to vacuum now...Asinine! I got this vacuum for Christmas (yes, I comprehend. But in hubby's defense I actually asked for a new vacuum for Christmas). He did TONS of research to catalogue a canister vac that met my needs: had to use bags, had to be light and good with pet hair. By getting this as a gift payment wasn't as much of a concern as it was kind of a treat, and let me tell you--this is totally worth the cost. It's wonderful light, super quiet, and super effective. I can vacuum while having a conversation, that's how quiet it is. And you can undoubtedly take it up and down the stairs. It has a handy little hook that allows you to connect the hose and bar to the canister so that you can transmit it all with one hand. It is so easy to take this vacuum out that I find myself cleaning more frequently than I did before. And its multi-level suction capability makes it fitting for everything from light cleaning of curtains to heavy-duty cleaning of high-traffic carpets. And the unexpected allowances that I love the most: you don't change the attachment when you switch from hard floors to carpet; the same head entity is used for both. I never thought about it, but just pushing a button when I switch rooms rather than having to detach and reconnect attachments is a HUGE timesaver. I love this vacuum! I have fallen for a slim European called Delphi Once upon a beat in the Gr33n4blu3 household many moons ago.... Mrs. Gr33n4blu3 was busy vacuuming the family room floor underneath her cover up's outstretched legs as he was busy keeping the couch anchored to the floor. As she intentionally lifted her husband's feet to suck up the potato chips that he had *accidentally* deposited on the defeat, all of a sudden her Hoover Whirlwind vacuum began to cough and spasm! The motor was dying in its eighth year of living! She frantically cracked open the casing and tried to resuscitate the motor by hand as her retain adjusted the volume so that the neighbors could hear his favorite movie, The Room by Tommy Wiseau. Despondently, it was no use. The mighty Hoover was dead, much like its inventor, J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI. Little known actually, while "undercover" in drag, Hoover adopted the traditional gender roles of the time and inured to a vacuum that he had modified to drown out the noise of his spy equipment - I mean, hey, it was the olden days, way back in the early 17th century. With conquest heavy on her brow Mrs. Gr33n4blu3 told her husband, "It looks like we need a new vacuum." Her pacify grunted with approval. She glared at him and his half hearted response. "If you want me to reveal this room you need to get me a new vacuum - or else you can clean it yourself!" Many months passed until one day Gr33n4blu3 could no longer loaf on the couch after a cold day spent collecting tolls. Dust, food, cat hair, dirt and filth were everywhere! Not only was sailing impossible, but the couch was no longer discernable from the rest of the trash pit. A sinking fear gripped his nitty-gritty as he realized the options before him... Option one: Grab a broom and dustpan and start cleaning. This was not an election. Not only were the mechanics of operating a broom a complete mystery to Gr33n4blu3, but the odds were that he would only make the situation worse. Alternative two: Buy Mrs. Gr33n4blu3 a vacuum and hope that she would save the day (yet again). Thinking the task was easy, Gr33n4blu3 plopped down on the dining room flooring and set to work on researching vacuums online. Big mistake! Many hours were spent only to discover that "vaccum" was not the appropriate spelling of vacuum. Another few hours were wasted viewing cat vacuuming videos on YouTube. Finally Gr33n4blu3 had narrowed the criterion for leverage down to the following: 1. Must be cheap, preferably less than the cost of a 17" HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop with an Intel(R) Nucleus(TM)2 Duo CPU P7350 @2.00GHz. 4 GB RAM (w/MS VISTA). 2. Must be quiet, so as not to interrupt television viewing. 3. Must be light, so that Mrs. Gr33n4blu3 does not cry about being sore the next day. Well... two out of three ain't bad. Gr33n4blu3 had always been aware of the vacuums his family had owned (someone had to make the suck jokes). Because of since experiences, Hoover was out. Not only was it expensive, heavy, and difficult to maintain, but storage was a problem as the units are very chunky. Kenmore's have been a little more reliable, but weight and price were the knock out factors. All that was left was to enquire into the European canister vacuums. Look around the chat boards (they do exist for vacuums!) and one name stands out - Miele. Weighing in at between 10 and 14 pounds, the Miele S2--- and S4--- models are light enough to play up perform around comfortably, but not light enough to throw at the husband in a fit of rage. The next point is how quietly it operates - Gr33n4blu3 can wealthily hear the television while the vacuum is operating on full power. And like the advertisements indicate, hearing the phone belt is no problem. The hose connects to the canister, so storage is easy and compact. The final attribute, the price, was a bit tougher to negotiate. Ultimately it did cost much less than the HP Laptop ($1,600), but the question remains - is it value the cost? In an answer to that question consider this: Gr33n4blu3's wrote this review comfortably seated on his untainted couch while his wife was happily vacuuming in the background. The Miele Delphi box was mounted on his rampart as a trophy of his accomplishment. ****************** Bonus: Gr33n4blu3 jr keeps asking mommy to vacuum - way to go son! |

Metro Vac 'N' Blo Jr. 500 Vacuum Review
After years of putting off organization the dust out of our Micron/MPC computers that magically accumulates viscera the computer, we did a web search for something that would fit the bill, something that would vacuum AND expand air out. Effective, we could buy (and keep buying) canned air to burn out a become furious out our computers … but that's an continuous expense for a delimited amount of tidiness. And there are quantity of vacuum cleaners, but not so many that also angry air out.
We came up the Metro Vac 'N' Blo Jr., manufactured by the Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co., Inc., at One Ramapo Thoroughfare, P.O. Box 149, Suffern, N.Y. 10901.
Metro Vac ReconsiderationThis sturdily built vacuum/blower weighs a dwarf over two pounds and it has a strap that you can fit over your candidly. It has a group of attachments and it's rather clear to use! One side of this minuscule Metro Vac ‘N’ Jolt vacuum blows air out with in operation and the other sucks in with vigour. All you do is shift your hose from one side to the other depending on your use, and shoulder the midget handle to tender it on. For such a unpretentious system I'd say it's charming aggressive: it blows in the red and sucks reasonable as eagerly.
We proceeded to unhook our computers from their spaghetti-like orchestration of cords and cables and took them face to be blown out. We popped the lids to our MPCs and began the job of blowing them out. After years of pile of dust, one could say we had been ::cough:: reduce inattentive in our overhead of our computers. The dust was so bad that it reminded me of the air (tainting) down in Los Angeles accurate (we last two valleys up from Los Angeles). And in spite of the brawniness of the Metro Vac 'N' Blo, it ended up being a gloomy piece of work. However, for good we worked through the fogged up air and had gotten rid of some dust bunnies and a lot of very bonny meritorious dust. We declared our Microns fully and got them back into process.
My old lady then switched the tools around and walked around the point vacuuming up everything she wanted — and she had the tools to get into the smallest areas.
