This is a 1970's scale model # JKP16-002HA. I think there maybe a latch braket some place and maybe a unorthodox tool to release it?

first wipe the doors then locate the screws (4) holding it in, remove, & mind to out. the electrical box will be behind it so try to have another person helping to hold or disconnect.

Do I need to remove the back panel off of a GE wall oven to unhook the wires on the igniter for replacement?

Not at all. If you purchaced the replacement igniter you might mind a connection. This igniter is kinda of a universal. Shut the power. Cut the two wires about an inch from the joint. Take off the old igniter and cut those two wires. connect with ceramic wire nuts. Make a muck-up of back on and your in buisness. Good luck.
