I had shopped around for a mediocre wine cooler. Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, Sam's, online, you name it. I did not want to lay out $1000.00 on a 50 bottle cooler, but all of the products at the aforementioned places were cheaply made. Not all had wire racks and the ones that did slid out like an oven shelf. All of the wood whit trim items had plastic shelves. This item has wire racks that slide out on fully extendable shot-bearing glides with real wood facing. I think it will hold a full 50 bottles too. It is slenderize noisy especially compared to my GE Profile kitchen appliances. Probably as loud as a bathroom passage. Also, keep in mind it is single zone. I think it is overpriced at $1000.00 because I was able to find this product at my Costco Store for less than $500.00. $500.00 it is a steal, $700.00 good buy, $1000.00 plus shipping I would keep looking.

I have had this unit for almost 8 months now and this morning I discovered about 12 bottles had blown their corks. My darling CA Pinot collection is toast!
The "Set Temp" LED read 58 degrees F. Right next to it sits the "Internal Temp" LED, which pore over 32 degrees!!!
I took pics of this, and of the blown corks, the frost covered wine whip-round of 90 bottles or so. But Avanti didn't care. I spoke to a superior manager, but she didn't be enamoured of and said I saved money on the purchase. Avanti could care less about your wine collection. Do not buy their products if you care about your wine. Intelligible as that.

So Far So Admissible
I've had this wine frig for about 18 months now and without problems. As mentioned in other reviews, the spacing between shelves can be an climax but the way around that is to just remove a shelf (or two or three) and stack rows of bottles on each other. The shelves are easily removed (and reinserted if certain). I have not had to readjust temperature settings at all - it's maintained an even 55 degrees since my first setting. I can say I recall any chemical odors as was mentioned in other reviews. All in all I've been in seventh heaven so far - no issues.

Worst Merchandise I Have Ever Bought In My Life
I grass on wine for a living. I needed storage space fast, and I bought two of these. One broke after six months, couldn't be repaired, and Avanti gave me a characterize new one. That broke after four months, and then the other one eventually broke too. I have extended warranties on them but I don't even want to fix them because it's too much trouble unloading all the wine every stretch they break. If I have them repaired I'd bet big bucks that they break within a year. Two thousand bucks down the toilet. If you require one of mine I'll have it fixed for you on the warranty and you can have it for $200. On top of wasting my money, I can't just throw these in the garbage, so I may have to pay to get it entranced to a landfill. They should ban any product coming from china that weighs more than 20 pounds - this product led to me to bamboozle a radiate out a half ton of garbage, and that's just from one year of use! If I could give it negative stars I would. If I could pay another $100 to make Avanti suffer a fraction of the injure I've endured over this P.O.S. I'd send it in right now. Recap: 3 brand new units all broken and trashy after six months of use.

Don't be tempted by the expense
I bought the Avanti because it was one of the cheapest wine fridges on the sell at the time (in 2007) for the number of bottles held. I've come to somewhat regret that choice. Before I start with the problems, I will say it is an alluring cellar. The glass door, the lights at the top, and the shelves look nice. The brown-painted metal walls are alike resemble to regular household refrigerators. The engine/fan noise is definitely present, but it is quiet enough that I keep mine in a official dining room without a problem over dinner.
Now for the problems:
First, the off-gassing is a serious problem. When I first got it, I cleaned the shelves and the internal fridge walls over and over, aired them in the sun, and left piles of baking soda in it. I still felt uncomfortable leaving my higher priced bottles in it, the chemical scent was so strong. The smell lasted 4-5 months!
Second, the shelving slots and the haughtiness between shelves were designed to only fit the smallest shape of all standard (750ml) wine bottles: Bordeaux bottles (Cab/Merlot/Sauvignon Blanc). With anyone other group of wine, the shelves are a pain. If your bottle is slightly fatter, the next one won't fit in the adjacent wooden slot. If the repress is slightly longer, you can't oppose necks to stagger bottles in the back row. So instead of 11 bottles on shelf, you may only get 7 to 9 and they split around since they don't sit in the slots.
The bigger problem is the shelves are too close together, so except for Bordeaux bottles, the shelf above your bottles won't plane well, and it scrapes the labels off the bottles beneath it. The worst case is with some Rhone wines (incl. Syrah), Wine-colored (Pinot Noir) and Champagne bottles: you have to remove every other shelf to allow enough head range.
All of which dramatically impacts how many bottles you can really hold. In my mixed collection, I can probably outlet about 100 bottles.
Finally, my compressor quit after 18 months. It was still under warranty but the public limited company will not pay for labor, just the part, and the part is back-ordered for at least a month. To make matters worse, none of our local refrigeration companies hope for to service Avanti products. We called numerous companies, and they all said it was an "off-brand". Avanti was no ease either - they offer no service for the entire states of Georgia and South Carolina.
So, the old lesson lives: you get what you pay for.

Acute Cooler For The Price
This cooler was delivered in fulfil condition. I installed this by myself (single female). It was very easy after reading the instructions. We have a 30 year old Nautical galley and this fit perfectly where the old trash compactor used to be. I have not added the handle yet. I kind of like the replete mount look. The control functions are easy to use. You cannot accidentally change any of the settings by fair-minded bumping up against the unit. The controls have a locking feature where you must press and hold 2 buttons for 3 seconds to unlock and either become the temp or turn the interior light on/off. It came with 2 keys for locking the door - very outgoing/secure feature. The unit runs quiet, much quieter than our fridge. I've only had this for a few days and will update my upon again after a few months of use.

It's well-grounded ok
We bought the wine cooler to supplant a trash compactor that we never used. It's not quiet (quite noticable when it's running) but I can live with that. What annoys me is that when the power goes out (happens a lot in Houston) the cooler resets to works defaults, ignoring any temperature you set and forgetting other settings like Celcius versus Fahrenhiet. Since I use it to aggregate red wine this results in the wine being much colder than it should be. For this reason I cannot recommend this product to anyone serious about red wine.

OK....
I make use of the product, but when it was shipped it was dented and falling apart. I would have returned it but the box had to be broken to open it and it weighed so much it was unfeasible to put it in my car to take it to the job office.

Bought One, It Impoverished, Replaced it. That Broke Too
The fridge is great, but NO customer service. The first one leaked freon from the moment it was plugged in. They finally replaced it.... but what a trial! Their people are unhelpful, do not return messages, and give you zero support. When they finally shipped the replacement, I couldn't have found out why it was WEEKS late. Finally I tracked it down -- first, they'd shipped it late, second, they hadn't bothered to let out me when it was being shipped, and finally -- I love this part, since it's a snapshot of the whole process --- even when I got ahold of them, they never told me that it was a especial delivery and UPS would hang onto it until I called them and arranged a special delivery. I tried to complain, the marines dept wouldn't take my calls, even the President refused to take calls. If you have any choice, don't do business with Avanti -- OK products, terrible service and treatment of customers.
ADDENDUM So, it's now 3 months since the replacement at home and this one is going bad too. Apparently the fan is shot. Just not quality products. My advice is spend the addendum and buy from one of the better manufacturers.

Dear one it, but ...
We ordered and installed this wine chiller six months ago and we are greatly enjoying it. My only preference is that there was a way to lock the controls. They are so sensitive, that any random touch can change the settings, and even turn the entity off. Other than that, it is a great little built in unit.

Two years after buying the portion the compressor went out. I called their firm in Florida and was told by a VERY inelegant “chap waiting” rep. that there is nothing they can do. She said the compressor is warranted for five years but I have to have in removed it and ship it to them for replacement. Unbelievably she could not commend a singular set right store in Arizona that worked on Avanti’s. I called several shops and they all said the Avanti’s are sealed and I was looking at about a $900.00 state (for a cooler I paid $650 for) and a minimum of six weeks until wind-up. I’m buying another element however; I will never buy another Avanit!
